General Assembly voices concern over Iranian human rights record

  UN News Centre – United Nations Member States today expressed deep concern at reports of human rights violations in Iran, including torture, the use of cruel punishments such as flogging and amputations and “pervasive gender inequality and violence against women,” and called on Tehran to strengthen its national human rights institutions.

Report: Iranian reformists will run in March 2012 parliamentary elections

  The Washington Post –  A report quotes Iran’s former president as predicting pro-reform figures will run in the next election. The report by the semiofficial Mehr news agency Monday quoted Mohammad Khatami as saying reformists will not boycott the March 2012 parliamentary elections. Khatami has emerged as a leader of the reform movement.

Iranian political prisoners receive HR awards from ICHR
