A government representative in Iranian Parliament was expelled from parliament after he struck one of lawmakers over an argument about the redistribution of government subsidies.
Iranian media report that Behrouz Moradi head of government subsidies slapped Hossein Hosseini after he accused the government of failing to pay out subsidies to gas, electricity and water companies.
Iranian government cut off subsidies on energy and food staples last year. The money was to be redistributed in a more equitable manner.
Moradi reportedly insisted that the administration had already paid out what was budgeted.
Moradi continued to strike Hosseini despite admonitions from Ali Larijani head of Parliament and was finally forced to leave the room.
