Iranian regime shuts down internet cafes and arrests 6 people for using proxies

The head of the Fatay Police [police force that fights so-called internet crimes] in the Southern Khorasan Province said that six internet cafes that used proxies were shut down.

 

“In line with the plan to organize internet cafes and raise the security of internet users, agents of the Fatay Police in the town of Birjand inspected 43 internet cafes in 20 days and shut down six because they did not observe security measures and used proxies”, Colonel Hosseini said.

“Six people in charge of the internet cafes were arrested and handed over to judicial institutions”, he added. (ISNA state-run News Agency – Jan. 1, 2012)
