Khazar cement factory, one of Iran’s largest, shut down due to strike of drivers over low wages.
The strike by truck drivers in the Khazar cement plant has resulted in a 10-day stoppage of production in the plant. The factory, located in Gilan Province, was forced to stop producing cement after the drivers declared a strike due to what they referred to as low wages vs. the high cost of shipment. The factory cannot store cement, resulting in a stoppage in production. According to reports, the state of the factory, which is in the middle of a crisis and has halted pay of workers’ wages, might become even more dire.
