Gonabadi Dervishes Arrested in Front of Evin Prison

 

 

 

 

 

More than 300 Gonabadi Dervishes were arrested by security forces in front of Evin prison today.

According to Majzooban reporter, in a tight security atmosphere and the presence of security forces and plainclothes, more than 300 Dervishes were arrested by security forces in front of Evin prison today on 3rd Esfand 1391(21 Feb 2013).

From last night all routes leading to Evin prison had been controlled by security forces and Guard forces had been deployed in front of Evin prison from early morning.

According to reports, some of them were released after a few hours but there is still no news about other detainees.

Number of detained Dervishes after transfer to detention center were mistreated, beaten and insulted. Security officers asked them to sign a pledge but they have resisted and refused to sign the pledge, then they were released after a few hours of interrogation.

A large number of Gonabadi Dervishes had announced that with their belongings and luggage will gather in front of Evin prison on 3 Esfand at 10 A.M to support of the many jailed Dervishes, some of whom have been in solitary confinement for more than 35 days and two Dervishes who are on hunger strike in Shiraz’s Adel Abad prison since 36 days ago.

Also Gonabadi Dervishes are calling for fair proceedings as the charges are processed, adding that: We are willing to join their brothers in jail rather than stand by and “witness the oppression our brothers and defenders are being subjected to.”
