Prominent economic analyst Fariborz Dana was released from prison.
According to CHRR, Fariborz Raisdana, imprisoned economic analyst, former university professor and member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, was released on April 15th after serving his prison term.
On December 21, 2010, Raisdana was arrested following his criticism of the “targeted subsidies initiative” calling it a “neo-liberal policy.” He was transferred to Evin prison where he was interrogated and kept behind bars in Ward 209 for one month. He was eventually tried in Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court presided by Judge Moghiseh, and was handed a one-year prison sentence on the charges of “insulting the leadership” and “membership in the Iranian Writers’ Association.” In May 2012, he was transferred to Evin prison to serve his one-year sentence.
