Three pro-Rohani activists have been detained in the Iranian city of Tabriz.

Sources told the Green Voice of Freedom that three student activists who actively supported Iran’s new president-elect Hassan Rohani were arrested on Tuesday.

Behnam Nikzad, Amin Farid-Yahyai and Ali Orujzadeh were detained by the Revolutionary Guards on Tuesday. The three were held at an unknown location for a night and handed over to the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz on Wednesday.

The arrest of the student activists was reportedly carried out without any warrant. After being charged with “disrupting public order,” deputy prosecutor Judge Hashemzadeh ordered their detention at Tabriz’s central prison.

The city of Tabriz, which is also the capital of Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province, has been the site of two major street celebrations, one following the election of Hassan Rohani as president and again after Iran’s qualification for the 2014 football world cup in Brazil.

During the victory celebrations in Tabriz, crowds chanted slogans in support of imprisoned opposition figures Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi.
