The Iranian Coroner’s Office has announced that the results of Sattar Beheshti’s autopsy have been finalized, classifying the cause of death as “death due to psychological pressure.”

Sattar Beheshti, a blogger, was arrested last October by Tehran’s Cyber Police, and five days later his family was informed of his death.

His body bore signs of blows, and some of the prisoners who saw him in between his transfers to other facilities claim Beheshti was being tortured and feared for his life.

The coroner’s report confirms there was evidence of several blows to the body but it maintains these blows could not have been fatal and the actual cause of death must have been psychological pressure.

The coroner’s report has been now forwarded to the judiciary, which will decide if legal proceedings are necessary in view of its findings.

The death of Sattar Beheshti triggered widespread outrage both inside and outside Iran. His family has filed a suit against the Cyber Police to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of his death.
