Tehran Police have shut down 67 internet cafes, citing various violations of city regulations.

Hossein Sajedinia, the head of the Tehran police force, told ISNA on Saturday that the internet cafes have been shut down as part of “a neighbourhood security project.”

He added that 352 internet cafes were inspected in the past week and, in addition to the ones that were shut down, many others have been served a warning and may be closed in the coming days if they do not comply with regulations.

Without clarifying the nature of the violations, Sajedinia claimed the targeted cafes were offering “illegal services” to youth, adding that it is duty of the police force to stop these violations.
