The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) recently issued a directive strictly forbidding all domestic networks from screening brutal violence scenes.

“Screening brutal violent scenes – through long shots or closeups — specially the scenes of murder, affray, torture, bloodshed and scenes in which someone is immediately preceding death is forbidden,” IRIB deputy director Ali Darabi wrote in the directive that was published on Tuesday.
“Depicting any scene, which promotes or justifies violence, is also forbidden,” he added.
He asked the networks’ managers to meet the directive in order to make the Iranian and foreign productions more relaxing for the viewers.
Persian dailies dedicate several pages to stories about people killed or injured in an affray.
Several pages of Persian dailies are dedicated every day to stories about victims of murders, street crimes, sexual abuse and child abuse.
Many social analysts have warned the relevant Iranian officials about the rising crime rate in the country.
The cautionary analyses significantly increased after some reports published on certain crimes in Khomeinishahr in Isfahan Province, Tehran and Karaj.
On May 25, 14 men invaded a party at a private garden in Khomeinishahr during the night, beating eight men and six women there. They then held the men captive and raped the women.
On July 5, a man stabbed a woman to death after she rejected his advances. She was killed in front of a group of people, some of whom were recording the terrible incident with their cell phones.
In Addition, Iranian Strongman Ruhollah Dadashi was stabbed to death during a brawl in Karaj on July 16.
