Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has criticized U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for suggesting that Tehran backed away from a deal with world powers over Iran’s nuclear program.

Posting on Twitter late on November 11, Zarif said “no amount of spinning can change what happened” in Geneva.

He also asked:

Mr.Secretary, was it Iran that gutted over half of US draft Thursday night? and publicly commented against it Friday morning?

Earlier on November 11, Kerry said six world powers had presented Iran with a unified proposal at the Geneva meetings, which ended early on November 10, but that Tehran had not accepted.

The next round of talks between Iran and six world powers are due to begin November 20.

Iran denies allegations its nuclear program is aimed at developing a nuclear weapons capability.
