Responses to Human Rights Abuses in Iran
1. All political prisoners from section 12 of Rajaee Shahr prison in the city of Karaj refused to take three days worth of their dietary in protest to the installation of parasite noise emitting devices. It has been a while since these small devises have been installed specifically to disrupt mobile phone signals by emitting waves of parasitic noise in various sections of Rajaee\Shahr prison; thus creating discomfort amongst the prisoners including headaches, dizziness and dryness of mouth.
2. Abdol-Fata Soltani, Amir-KhosroDalir-Sani, Saeed Madani and Mehdi Khodayi who are serving their sentences in Evin Prison, started their hunger strike on Saturday 2nd November 2013, in order to protest against carelessness of officials towards sick prisoners who require immediate medical care outside of prison, and also the dire conditions of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi.
3 .On Sunday 3rd November 2013, in a letter written to Seyyed Ali Khamenei by three hundred academics of Tehran and Rasht, referring to the imminent execution of “Masoud Pooyan-Raad”, the secretary of sociology and an academic in the city of Rasht, requested Ali Khamenei to stop the execution, to allow further investigation into this issue and to give him more time to ask for forgiveness from the family of the victim.
4. On Thursday 31stOctober 2013, at Sattar Beheshti’s memorial ceremony Mohammad Noori-Zaad showed great respect towards this political prisoner, whilst criticizing the MPs and the officials said: “We saw the blood of your son. We do not deny Sattar’s tragic death, and we are all on your side. People will not forget that they are in debt for the blood of the martyrs who lost their lives acting for the Green Movement”.
5 .The International Transport Federation (ITF), wrote to the president of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, and asked for the immediate release of Reza Shahabi, a labor activist who is currently held in prison.
Workers and vulnerable communities
1. Hassan Piruz Far, the President of Islamic Labour Council of workers of the Gibour factory in Mashhad announced dismissal of 40 workers.
2. Furthermore last week, following the decision of the ministry of petroleum on temporary stoppage of unfinished civil projects and subsequently injecting its budget into other petroleum projects, the workers of Asaloyeh went on strike.
3. Hadi Rezazadeh, the secretary of the labor house of Golestan province announced the closure of Gorgan Metal Factory and redundancy of 25 official workers of this production unit.
4. Furhtemore, on Tuesday 5th November, over thousand workers of the factory of Poli Ekril in the city of Mobarakeh in Isfehan province, manufacturer of yarn and fibers in Iran, for the fourth time in the last week, gathered together in protest against the transfer of the subsidiaries of the company.
5. On Thursday 31st October, 80 contract workers of Sahele Sabze Khuzestan of the municipality district two of Ahvaz, in protest against lack of payment, gathered in Isaar Park of Ahvaz.
Sentences: death, flogging, amputation, imprisonment and detention
1. According to the reports, on Monday 4th November 2013, Hassan Damirchi, an Azerbaijani musician, was arrested by the security officers at his house and was transferred to an unknown location. It is worth mentioning that Dr Hassan Damirchi has been arrested several times for his activities in civil rights.
2. On Saturday 2nd November 2013, Reza Habibi Gohari who was accused of murder was hanged in the Lakan Prison in the city of Rasht.
3. Furthermore, on Wednesday 30th October 2013, 9 male prisoners followed by 2 female prisoners were hanged in the central prison of Urumieh city.
4. Mojtaba Malaki the prosecutor of the Kermanshah province announced that 5 individuals convicted of murder were hanged in the central prison of the city.
5. News indicates that 6 individuals accused of drug trafficking were hanged in the Kermanshah Prison.
6. Sharif H, a prisoner accused of drug trafficking, was executed on Wednesday morning 30th October in Karoon Prison in the city of Ahwas.
7. On Wednesday 6 November a prisoner who was accused of drug trafficking, executed by gallows in the central prison of Jiroft city
The rights of the followers of ethnic minorities – prisoners of conscience in Iran
1. Following increasing pressure on Baha’i citizens, on Tuesday 5th October security officers closed down the business places of three Baha’i citizens in the city of Tanekabon.
2. On Sunday 3rd November Abdol-amir Khanafereh, Ghazi Abasi, Abdol-amir Madami and Jasem Moghadam-Panahm, the four Arabs prisoners from the city of Shadegan, who were sentenced to death, were transferred to an unknown location
3. On Saturday 2nd November Anisa Dehghani a Baha’i citizen from the city of Isfahan, was imprisoned in Vakil Abad Prison in the city of Mashhad. She has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by the appeal court of Khorasan province
4. Hasan Bazrafkan and Vahid Taghvajoo, two Baha’i citizens from the city of Marvdasht after 48 days of captivity in the intelligence office of Shiraz, on Sunday 3rd November were transferred to Adel-Abad Prison in the city.
5. Shawn Sharif a Sunni civilian has been imprisoned in Sanandaj prison and is in limbo for the past two years.
6. Six Sunni prisoners, namely Hamed Ahmadi, Kamal Mullai, Jamshid Dehgani Jahangir Dehgani, Sedigh Mohammedi and Sayed Hadi Hosseini who were sentenced to death in Ghezel Hesar prison on Monday 4th of November, have started hunger strike following the decision of the authorities to transfer them to another location.
7. The condition of Mustafa Daneshjoo, a Gonabadi Dervish and political prisoner held in ward 350 Evin prison has been announced to be dire. He was sent to Shohada Hospital in Tajrish last week for treatment.
Press and cyberspace
1. It has been reported that Saied Poor Aziza, a news editor in charge of Bahar Newspaper on Thursday 31st October were arrested and taken to Evin Prison. Bahar Newspaper on 23rd October issued an article entitled “Imam, a political leader or a symbol of faith?” which resulted in the closure of the newspaper by the Press Supervisory Committee.
2. Rahim Sarkar”, a former editor of the weekly reformist Newspaper, Qazvin Bulletin on charges of publishing articles and lies on “insulting the Supreme Leader” on Saturday 2nd November was sentenced to16 months and its head of section to two years imprisonment.
Other human rights violations.
1. On Thursday, 31st October Moosa Heidar Zadeh, a shepherd from the Kenardan village, while moving his flock was shot by the security police
2. Following the political prisoner’s strike in section 12 of Rajayi shahr prison demanding government’s rations, 9 were called and threatened by the authorities.
3. On Wednesday 6th of November, on the fifth day of a hunger strike of four political prisoners in the Evin prison, the condition of one of them, Abdolfattah Soltani’s worsened and subsequently was transferred to the infirmary.
