A political prisoner on hunger strike in Evin prison

Mohammad Hasan Yousef Pouryousefi the political prisoner of ward 350 of Evin prison is on hunger strike demanding the authorities to pay attention to his critical health condition.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Yousef Pouryousefi, the human rights and labor children rights activist and the former responsible of personnel unite of Human Rights Activists has begun the hunger strike since Friday, November 22.

He suffers from serious problems of both eyes and the doctors have announced his visual acuity equal to 0.4.

Since he cannot be cured anymore because of prison authorities’ neglect, one of the authorities of Evin prison has told him that he may get 90 million Thomans as compensation if he complains.

Nevertheless the laboratory of Evin prison has shut down because of financial problems.

Youes Pouryousefi is suffering from lumbar disc, high blood pressure and irregular heartbeat and has been transferred to Modarres hospital once.

Although the doctors wanted him to be hospitalized but the prosecutor did not allow it and he was brought back to the prison.

The doctors of ward 350 recommended him to be visited by a Neurologist who is not coming to prison because of financial disputes since 7 months ago.

The authorities promised him last week that he will be cured but they failed to do so, therefore he has gone on hunger strike.

He had been arrested in 2011 by IRGC intelligence forces and was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison by branch 15 of Tehran revolutionary court.
