hunger strike

Two Iranian political prisoners have begun a hunger strike in support of the protest movement by Haft Tapeh Sugarcane Company workers.

Shahrokh Zamani and Khaled Hordani announced that as of Tuesday December 24, they are refusing food in solidarity with the Haft Tapeh workers, Kordpa reports.

Those workers have begun a series of protests to protest their job conditions and the dismantling of their workers’ council.

Shahrokh Zamani is a labour activist who was arrested two years ago and sentenced to 11 years in jail.

Khaled Hordani was arrested in 2000 and has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
