Iranian President Hassan Rohani has called for a task force to combat those who are driving up their profits by taking advantage of the sanctions.
Iranian media reported on Saturday December 28 that deputy president Eshagh Jahangiri has been appointed as the head of this task force, and the government has announced that “healthy economic activity is a priority of the government.”
In his letter, the president calls on his deputies to give special attention to “cases of exploitation of the economic conditions caused by sanctions.”
The letter comes at a time when Turkey is wrestling with financial abuses linked to top Turkish government personalities. The names of Iranian businessmen Reza Zarrab and Babak Zanjani have also been linked to this scandal.
