Raids in houses of persons involved with human rights in Iran direct suspicions towards an action orchastrated by the regime in Iran.
When Nasrin Sotoudehs family returned from a familial funeral on Friday, 27th of December 2013 they found the door to their apartment broken, lockers and closets dumped any anything of value disappeared. Reza Khandan, husband of Nasrin Sotoudeh, posted a picture of a vandalized room on his Facebook site and soon the International Campaign for Human Rights wrote about it.
As we learn from another Facebook site, the office of Dr. Seyed Mostafa Azmayesh was already raided and vandalized on Monday, 23.12.2013. Several data storage media with personal research data were taken away besides other objects.
Dr. Seyed Mostafa Azmayesh is an exiled Iranian who lives for more than 38 years in Paris, France from where he often reports in interviews about human rights violations and provides analysis on the dangerous ideology of the system that rules Iran. Dr. Azmayesh is a religious scholar, jurist and researcher in the field of history of the religions and world views in the Near East. He is the head of the International Organisation to Preserve Human Rights in Iran (IOPHRI) that is reporting regularly to the European Parliament, the United Nations or to human rights councils of individual states and engages in publishing divers human rights violations against various groups in Iran. His organization performed several street actions in multiple european capitals in favor of Nasrin Sotoudehs release from prison.
Two weeks ago a European Delegation headed by Tarja Cronberg met during their visit Nasrin Sotoudeh and Jafar Panahi in Teheran. This meeting has caused heavy criticism among fundamentalist forces inside the regime. These forces incline to show strong signs of their power when there is something that doesn’t correspond to their views.
According to the informations provided by now tit is highly probable that behind both raids in Teheran and Paris there could be one of the numerous Iranian secret agencies. Besides intending to intimidate Mrs Sotoudeh and Mr Azmayesh and those around them the raids left property and material damage and provided the agency with dire information of human rights workers.
