The Iranian president told the World Economic Forum at Davos that Iran is open for foreign investment.

Hassan Rohani spoke as the first guest speaker following greetings from Klaus Schwab, the forum founder.

“We intend to reopen trade, industrial and economic relations with our neighbours,” Rohani said, adding that “Iran’s economy has the potential to be among the world’s top 10 in the next three decades.”

An interim agreement between Iran and the world powers that was implemented last week has led to the easing of sanctions against the country, giving Iran a chance to re-enter the world of international trade.

Rohani expressed his hopes for normalized relations with Europe and also indicated that the future could even bring improved relations between Iran and the United States.
