Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced on Saturday January 25 that he and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton have agreed to set up a meeting between Iran and the 5+1 delegation by the end of February.
The two met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum gathering in Davos. Zarif reports that the meeting has been delayed to late February to accommodate the Chinese delegates and their Chinese New Year celebrations.
Iran and the world powers reached an interim deal last November to take mutually acceptable steps over the next six months to suspend some of Iran’s nuclear activities and to ease international sanctions against the country.
The deal was implemented last week despite a some opposition from hardliners in the Islamic Republic establishment.
