During the latest trial, Judge Salavati refused to release Maryam Shafipoor on bail and she was returned to Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the trial session of Maryam Shafipoor, the member of Mehdi Karroubi’s election campaigns women committee was held in branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on February 2, 2014 after being under arrest for 7 months.
During the trial, the relatives of Maryam Shafipoor were not allowed to attend the hearing, but her lawyer was allowed to accompany this student activist.
Her lawyer asked judge Salavati to release her on the bail, however the judge did not agree and she was taken back to the women ward of Evin prison.
The officials said that she will receive the sentence during next week.
Maryam Shafipoor had been arrested on July 27, 2013 after being summoned to branch number 2 of “Shahid Moghaddas” court in Evin prison. She was under arrest in ward 209 of Evin prison for more than 2 months and has been transferred to women ward of Evin prison since September 30, 2013.
This expelled student in Agricultural Engineering of International Qazvin University is the first student who has been arrested after Hassan Rohani’s presidency.
She was sentenced by Qazvin Revolutionary Court to 1 year of suspended imprisonment in 2010 because of her activities as a student and blogger.
