The appeals court has confirmed the imprisonment and exile sentence for Saeed Madani, the Iranian Nationalist-religious activist.
Kaleme reports that Madani has been sentenced to six years in jail and 10 year in exile, which will be spent in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
Madani was arrested in December of 2011 and held for close to one year at the Intelligence ministry detention centre before being transferred to ward 350 of Evin Prison.
According to his indictment, Madanai is accused of “collaboration with the Coordination Council of the Green Path, the Defenders of Human Rights Centre, the Defence Committee for Free Elections, the Committee for Investigation of Arbitrary Arrests, the National-Religious Activists Council and the publication of articles and books on social issues with an aim to present a dark image of the country.”
