A ceremony to honor the anniversary of Dervish Solidarity Day which was supposed to be held in Tehran by a group of Gonabadi Dervishes yesterday evening on 3rd day of Esfand (Feb 22) was cancelled due to direct intervention from Ministry of Information.
According to reports by Majzooban Noor, since a few days ago a group of Dervishes had planned and prepared a special ceremony on the occasion of Dervish’s Day but in the final hours the ceremony was cancelled due to Ministry of Information interference.
It is notable that, as the “Day of Dervish” was approaching (Dervish Day as a symbol of unity and solidarity of Dervishes, which is commemorated on 3rd day of Esfand corresponding to 22nd February) pressure on Gonabadi dervishes in different parts of the country has increased. Including repeatedly summons of Gonabadi Dervishes by Intelligence Bureau of southeastern town of Babak in Kerman province, distribution of false declaration attributed to the Dervishes in the city of Khorram-Abad and unlawful seizure of 500 copies of the printed calendar, posters and effigies of Sufi grand Masters in the city of Ahvaz.
