Yesterday evening on 6 Esfand 1392 (Feb 25, 2013), Hamid-Reza Moradi and Mostafa Daneshjou, imprisoned Dervish rights activists who were admitted to Tehran Heart Center, in protest action, returned to Evin prison.
According to a report by Majzooban Noor, yesterday morning judicial authorities sent a letter demanding the return of two ill Dervishes, Hamid-Reza Moradi and Mostafa Daneshjou to Shohada e Tajrish hospital. Although the hospital physicians were not willing to discharge these two patients due to their obvious dire condition, but authorities insisted on transfer of them. Assistant Prosecutor told that the reason for their return is delayed therapy, but the fact is that, as doctors have recommended that Shohada e Tajrish hospital is inappropriate for treating cardiovascular, they were waiting for permissions on transfer to Tehran Heart Center for more than three months and during this period almost their necessary medical treatment and health care had been stopped.
Two Dervishes expressed their regret over Judicial authorities’s stubbornness which have reached a point where they are playing politics even with human lives and also dare to comment in the diagnosis and treatment of their disease. Moradi and Daneshjou returned to Evin prison as a protest against this such violent way to deal with ill prisoners and also preventing Afshin Karampour from being sent to the hospital despite his painful condition.
The attending physician wrote on discharge orders for Mr. Moradi: “Despite the urgent need for Vascular Surgery and the emphasis of doctors on the needs for continuing health care, under order of Judicial authority by the responsibility of judicial authorities, Mr. Moradi was discharged and sent back to prison.”
Hamid-Reza Moradi was transferred to prison while the date for his Vascular surgery had been set in the next week.
Hamid Moradi, in addition to serving a 10-and-a-half year penal term, has suffered a serious infection of the foot, which may require amputation, after torture by Iranian officials. He is also afflicted by illnesses including arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases, as well as lumbar disc damage.
Mostafa Daneshjou, jailed Dervish lawyers in ward 350 of Evin prison, was handed a 7-and-a-half year prison sentence, and is a pulmonary patient. He is recently suffering from cardiac arrhythmia due to the lack of attention to proper healthcare treatment while in custody.
