Arrest of Eighty Woman Dervishes in front of Tehran Prosecutor’s Office; Contradictory Promises by Authorities

breaking-news

According to our reporter, more than 80 women have been arrested by security forces in the street leading to the Tehran Prosecutor’s office today on Saturday, Esfand, the 17th (February, the 3rd) and moved to the office of Part VII of the Police Administration.
According to reports by Majzooban Noor, security forces arrested both men and women Dervishes while going to the Tehran Prosecutor’s office.

The gathering, however, has been stressed due to unlawful behaviour by security forces who should boost security in the society but instead threaten the safety and security of the peaceful protestors.
Till now more than 500 Gonabadi Dervishes have been arrested who are on hunger strike.
Despite police officers urging detained Dervishes to eat food and being intermittently released, they have refused to eat and go out of police station until their demands fulfilled. Their demand is in fact the implementation of Iran’s constitution, which calls for equal rights for all of Iran’s citizens. Dervishes demand return of 2 imprisoned Dervishes, farshid yadollahi and reza entesari and another political prisoner, Iranian Nationalist-religious activist saeed madani who were suddenly deported from Iran’s Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr. Dervishes have also demanded access to adequate medical treatment and facilities for sick detainees.
Although the authorities have promised to meet their demands but it looks like a contradiction.
Security forces in order to disperse the crowd of 2000 Dervish protesters have attempted to bring out fire engines, ambulances and police cars in front of Tehran Prosecutor’s office.

Ten imprisoned Dervishes on hunger strike in Evin, Rajae-Shahr, Shiraz’s Nezam and Bandar-Abbas prisons have been reportedly joined by more than 3,000 other Dervishes outside of prison — in Iran and elsewhere in Europe, India, and other countries — who have also gone on hunger strike.
