Mohammad-Ebrahim Bastani Parizi
Historian Mohammad-Ebrahim Bastani Parizi, translator Sasan Tabassomi and poet Nushin Ganji died during the holidays of Noruz, the Iranian New Year celebration, which began on March 21.
Bastani Parizi died on March 23 at the age of 89. He was suffering from a liver disease.
Born in 1924, Bastani Parizi was an Iranian historian, translator, poet, essayist and author of non-fiction books.
His numerous publications (over 50 books) are mostly popular reads on topics such as the history of Iran and the history of his hometown Kerman. He was laid to rest at Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
Sasan Tabassomi
Tabassomi died of cardiac arrest in the northern Iranian city of Rasht on March 29. He was 67. He was a translator of books by French writers including works by Jean-Louis Fournier, Paul luard, Francois Mauriac and George Simenon. He was also buried at Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
Ganji, 74, died on March 21 in the northeastern Iranian city of Neyshabur. She composed several sonnets and was mostly known for her novel “Little Lady”. She was buried at the Fazl ibn Shazan Cemetery in her hometown Neyshabur.
