Gonabadi Dervish, resident in the city of Damqan and an employee of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Ali Moazzami Fard dismissed from his government job due to dependence to the Gonabadi Dervishes Order.
According to Majzooban Noor, Mr. Ali Moazzami Fard who is responsible for holding Dervish ceremonies in his house, was fired after many years of working for Semnan province’s Imam Khomeini Relief Committee.
This Gonabadi Dervish has told the Majzooban Noor website that: ” After repeated attempts to know the reason why to fire,
finally, the head of Semnan province’s Imam Khomeini Relief Committee acknowledged that although I have been one of their best employees but my contract won’t be extended due to my personal religious beliefs as a dervish.”
Mr. Ali Moazzami Fard said about his frequent summons by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Semnan, over the past two years. He added that he has been also frequently threatened to lose his job in order to shut down worship-place of Gonabadi Dervishes there.
Another Gonabadi Dervish from the city of Semnan, Mr. Daneshgar has been also summoned and questioned by security forces several times , threatened and fired from his job.
The systematic violation and pressure on Iranian Dervishes under the pretext of job losses in order to prevent them from attending Dervishes ceremonies have continued since many years ago. Nonetheless, government has promised a wide range of rights, including the equal rights for religious and ethnic minorities and eliminate unlawful discrimination.
