Jailed Iranian labour activist Shahrokh Zamani finally ended his hunger strike on Monday April 14, after authorities agreed to his demand that he be returned to Rejai Shahr Prison.
HRANA, the Huamn Rights Activists News Agency, reports that Zamani was interrogated at Branch Seven of Karaj Investigation Bureau, and reports indicate that he was questioned about the published letter regarding mass executions at Rejai Shahr Prison.
Zamani’s lawyer reports that the prisoner has rejected all charges and insisted that once his demand to be returned to Rejai Shahr Prison is met, he would be prepared to answer questions in the presence of his lawyer.
Zamani is an executive member of the Committee to Establish Independent Labour Unions and the Reopening Board of the Construction Workers and Painters Syndicate. He was arrested in Tabriz in June of 2011 and later was sentenced to 11 years in jail.
