Irina Bukova, the Director General of UNESCO, visited historic sites and buildings in Isfahan today Monday April 28, 2014.

The families of political prisoners in Ward 350 of Evin Prison have filed a complaint against four judiciary officials in connection with recent incidents at the prison.

The Kaleme website reports that the families have filed a complaint against: the former head of Iran’s Prison Organization, Gholamhossein Esmaili; the head of Evin Prison, Ali Ashraf Rashidi; Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jaffari Dowlatabadi and Minister of Justice Mostafa Pour Mohammadi.

The complaint is linked to the events of April 17, 2014, when security officers and more than 100 soldiers serving as prison guards attacked and beat the political prisoners in Ward 350. More than 30 prisoners were injured and some were transferred to solitary confinement.

The families refer to the event as a “criminal act” and have called for the investigation of the four individuals in connection with this matter.
