A large group of citizens of Ravansar in Kermanshah Province gathered at the grave of murder victim Omid Moradi to urge the victim’s family to consent to rescinding the death penalty against his convicted murderer.
The Shargh daily reported on Sunday May 18 that last Thursday, scores of business owners, city council members, religious figures and civil activists in Ravansar took part in the gathering to obtain a consent from the family of the victim.
According to the report, about 5,000 were present at the gathering and accompanied the victim’s family from the cemetery to their home.
The report adds that the father of the victim promised the crowd that he would discuss the matter with his family. The convict is currently at Dizel abad Prison in Kermanshah, according to the report.
