According to Radio Zamaneh, Iran’s National Census Centre has announced that unemployment among university and college graduates is on the rise.
The Shargh daily reports that Adel Azar, the head of the National Census Centre, said the unemployment rate among people with a bachelor’s degree rose from 14.6 percent to 20.1 percent from 2005 to 2013.
He reported that in recent years, Iran has seen a change in the make-up of its unemployed, with more and more educated people joining their ranks.
He added that the increase of 5.1 percentage points in the unemployment rate for graduates becomes even more concerning when one considers that 4.5 million students will graduate from institutes of higher education this year.
