Jailed Iranian journalist Serajeddin Mirdamadi stood trial on Monday July 21 in Branch 15 the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.
Giti Pourfazel, Mirdamadi’s lawyer, told ISNA that the trial had been scheduled for August 1 and she had applied for bail to be set for her client. Instead, she said, Judge Salavati changed the trial date to July 21. Mirdamadi faced charges of “propaganda activities against the regime, assembly and collusion to act against national security”, and Pourfazel presented her client’s defence.
Pourfazel expressed hope that her client would be found innocent of all charges.
Serajeddin Mirdamadi’s passport was confiscated when he returned to Iran from France following the 2013 presidential election. He was indicted on November 19 and has been in custody since May 10.
