A poet receives imprisonment sentence in Tehran

Mohammadreza Alipayam, the comedian and poet, has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison by revolutionary court, because of a humorous poetry.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), he has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison by the verdict of chief judge Pirabbasi in branch number 26 of revolutionary court.

Mohammadreza Alipayam (Halou) posted on his Facebook page, “yesterday I had a call from branch number 26 of revolutionary court and I have been told to go and get my sentence. When I went there, they gave me the verdict and told me to read. They even did not give me a copy and said we do not give you a document”.

His charges are stated as:

1) Propaganda against Islamic Republic of Iran, by comedy poetry and distribution between people via SMS and internet

2) Insulting holly Quran and Imam the savior

3) Insulting imam Khomeini and the supreme leader

4) Insulting the president of Islamic Republic
