Iranian Parliament has announced that its session on Wednesday August 20 will be allotted to the impeachment of Education Minister Reza Farajidana.

President Rohani’s representative in Parliament expressed every hope that a majority of MPs will oppose the minister’s impeachment, saying: “Academia is satisfied with the policies of the Minister of Education.”

Majid Ansari referred to a letter of support for the minister signed by 900 professors.

The report indicates that the president will appear in Parliament in support of his minister.

A group of MPs has been critical of the minister’s policy to allow expelled professors and students to return to universities as well as his probe into the improper allotment of bursaries under the former administration.
