
Veteran Iranian TV and cinema director and a member of the Gonabadi Dervish order, Mr. Akbar Khajoui died Friday night 31 Mordad 1393 (August ,22 2014). The artist died of heart attack four days after he was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. He underwent a heart surgery in 2012. Khajoui was mostly remembered for his TV series ‘Patriarch’ in the 1990s. The series was so well-received by the Iranian audience that it was broadcast several times. He was born in 1947 in Isfahan, Khajoui began his artistic activities by producing ex-perimental movies. He also collaborated on the reconstruction of Azadi Cinema in Isfahan. ‘Green High School’, ‘Eight Heavens’ are among his TV series. Some of his features include ‘Mahya’, ‘Grand Circus’ and ‘Eternal House’. A funeral is scheduled for Sunday at the Cinema House in Tehran. He will then be buried in his hometown Isfahan.
