Two weeks after the earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale that hit the Mormori region among the provinces of Ilam, Lorestan and Khuzestan on Monday August 18, Governor General of Ilam Province prevented sending any aid to the Cheshmeh Shirin village due to Gonabadi Dervish residents of the village.

Some reports indicate that more than 260 people were injured in the incident and anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 homes have suffered serious damage, leaving many people homeless. Up to now the most victims of the earthquake recieved some help from government but Ilam governor has fully ignored the Cheshmeh Shirin village of 300 Gonabadi Dervish residents for this reason that they are sufis and Dervishes! While the people are reportedly faring badly, lacking shelter in temperatures that have reached as high as 50 degrees Celsius.
Despite the massive damage by earthquake Cheshmeh Shirin village has been bereft of any support till now.
