An interview from Radio Farda with Dr. Azmayesh concerning the recent statements of the Intelligence Minster.

Mostafa azmayesh

The Iranian intelligence minster, Mahmoud Alavai, in a meeting held with presence of the heads of education of diverse parts of Iran, addressed that “this idea that students in term of thoughts and attitudes can move forward and go anywhere they wish to go, leads to be a Sufi or Dervish, or become infidel and go toward moral nihilism.”

Here is an interview from Shahram Mirian( Radio Farda) with Dr. Mostafa Azmayesh, the spokesman of the world association for protection.
Dr. Azmayesh: The remarks that Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi, a member of the Assembly of Experts and the Information Minister of Mr. Rohani, addressed are so hazardous. Because Mr. Alavi doesn’t speak about the behaviors of the students, but targets the students’ opinions and ideas. Here is the inquisition. Indeed, this governmental official believes the Islam that they want to put it into practice, is the religion of the government. Mr. Alavai believes that every idea standing in opposite of the running ideology of the government and it is in conflict with that, is known as Satanism. Indeed, this is the depth and base of ideology of the government, which is today so-called “religious fascism”.
Mr. Mirian: The minister, at one hand, as you mentioned, says that “we cannot allow students to become Sufi and atheists”, on the other hand, Ali Younesi, a Special Assistant to the President on issues of ethnic and religious Minorities talks about the cooperation, collaboration, tolerance and compromise with such minorities. What is your opinion about these two issues?
Dr. Azmayesh: If we concentrate on the sayings of Mr. Alavai, so, it is in an apparent contradiction with the Minister’s, who believes that having any opinion outside the dominant ideology of the Iranian supreme leader is known as Satanism. It means that the path that Mr. Younesi, as a defender of the rights of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran suggests, and relates it to the civil rights, is entirely in a clear contrast with the one-dimensional view of Mr. Alavi’sideology. And it shows that in the cabinet of Mr. Rohani we are witness a dichotomy and split on the issues of the minorities.

Mr. Mirian: How is the condition of the jailed Dervishes in Evin and other prisons in Iran?
Dr. Azmayesh: Since Mr. Rohani took the office, the pressures on Dervishes have not been diminished in any way,and families are still unaware of the fate of their loved ones. It was seven days ago that Mr. Karampour who was a prisoner of Evin and had been sent to Shohada e Tajrish hospital for treatment, all his medical treatments were suspended and has been resent to the prison without the physician’s discharge order. Subsequently, his inmates, Mr. Moradi and Mr. Daneshjou, mentioned that they no longer wanted to stay in the hospital and with self-content decided to leave the hospital and return to the prison, but, a private car came and took them out. It was unclear about their location and security crackdown on the Dervishes for a while.
