Dervishes Were Beaten, Humiliated and Injured by Security Forces

On Sunday September 21st, at 9.00am Gonabadi Dervishes gathered in front of the Prosecutor General’s office to rally in peace.
After the announcement of Dervishes gathering on Sunday morning, the security forces closed the streets and Tehran’s Bazaar Metro’s exits in an effort to stop the crowd. The protestors were stopped from standing or sitting in front of the Prosecutor’s office.
The security forces installed temporary fences around the protestors. After a few hours of being surrounded by the police in Behesht Street, Dervishes were attacked. It is reported that the forces have used tear gas and beat them with batons. The protest resulted in the arrest of 800 Dervishes and 50 injured. Amongst the injured, a 6 month old baby is suffering from lung injury and having trouble breathing because of the tear-gas attack, 3 with multiple head fractures.
It is reported that the detained Dervishes in the police stations are being assaulted, humiliated and beaten by the security forces.
As security forces tightened around Dervishes, they screamed: “La Fatah Ila Ali La Saif Ila Zulfiqar”, which means: “there is no warrior except Ali(AS) and no sword greater than Zulfiqar”).
