Rasool Hoveyda’s letter to Doctors without Borders

Daravish-hunger-strike-93

Rasoul Hoveida, the non-political prisoner who had been released after joining the Sufi prisoners’ hunger strike, wrote a letter to Doctors without Borders warning against the Dervishes’ health conditions and a letter to the Dervishes themselves asking them to stop the hunger strike.
As reported by Majzooban Noor, in his letter to the nine Sufi lawyers and Sufi-rights activists, who are in Evin and Nezam-e Shiraz prisons, Mr. Hoveyda, who is a Physiotherapy specialist, wrote: you Dervishes showed in practice that you are not interested in conflicts and fight with anyone and want to have peaceful relationship with the whole world. Hereby, I ask God to open the eyes and hearts which are closed to truth as soon as possible, as said in his holy book “His command, when He intends anything, is only to say to it: Be, so it is” (36: 82), so now that the Eid of Ghorban-a major Eid of Muslims around the world-is approaching, dear ones you will be reunited with society and the large family of Gonabadi Dervishes.
In his letter to Doctors without Borders, Mr. Hoveyda referred to the imprisoned Dervishes’ serious health conditions and shared a memory of Reza Entesari’s fainting in the prison yard due to heart problems. As a member of the community of physicians and an eyewitness, I attest that the well-being and lives of the nine imprisoned Gonabadi Dervishes are at risk and beseech Doctors without Borders and human rights organizations to prevent innocent people from suffering and death. My brothers’ lives are in serious danger.
As reported before, the nine Gonabadi Sufi Dervishes imprisoned in Evin and Nezam-e Shiraz are suffering from serious health conditions. Today is their 24th day on hunger strike.
