The Islamic Republic has once again slammed Ahmad Shaheed’s report on Iran, describing it as “illegal”, “one sided” and “biased.”

Marzieh Afkham, a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said today, Wednesday October 8: “We regard this report as one-sided and far from reality and maintain that this report was prepared without adherence to regulations set out for UN Rapporteurs.”

She expressed doubt regarding the fairness and objective reliability of Shaheed’s method of reporting.

Ahmad Shaheed has published his sixth report on the state of human rights in Iran, and all of his reports have been slammed by Iranian authorities. They claim the report only reflects views of the regime’s opposition forces outside of Iran.

Shaheed, who has expressed serious concerns regarding human rights violations in Iran in all of his reports, has not been allowed to travel to Iran during his tenure as UN Rapporteur for Iran.
