According to Majzooban Noor, Javad Momeni, Deputy Warden of Evin prison sent a Gonabadi Dervish named Abbas Ahounbar who is being held in the financial section 8 of Evin prison, to another ward where drug addicts are kept, because of joining Gonabadi Dervish ceremonies. But after a few hours when mentioned Dervish declared dry hunger strike, was transferred back to section 8.
It is notable that, after transfer of jailed Gonabadi Dervish lawyers to general wards, Dervish ceremonies are being held two times a week in the Hosseiniyehs of these wards 7, 8 and 4.
Javad momeni who considered himself as student of Asadollah Lajevardi, the famous warden of the Evin Prison in the sixties, prior to this, put him under pressure. The prison’s Special Guards destroyed his items becouse he has friendship with Mostafa Daneshjou and Reza Entesari, imprisoned lawyer and dervish rights activists in ward 8.
Mr. Abbas Ahounbar, after his transfer to ward 8, in address to the Prison officials, stated in writing that:” He and his family have been Dervishes from a long time ago and he is ready to bear any suffering in this way.”
Also, 24 Shahrivar (Sept 15) Rasoul Hoveyda who was being held in the financial section 8 of Evin prison (Mehriyeh) was summoned to Evin warden’s office regarding his support of dervishes and joining their hunger strike. Rasoul Hoveyda was threatened with transfer to solitary confinement and Judicial deal. At this meeting, the head of Evin prison by referring to the destruction of Gonabadi Dervishes worship-places (Hosseiniyeh), called the Gonabadi dervishes’ place of worship “Shariat Hosseiniye” in the city of Qom, as ‘Zarar Mosque’ which must be destroyed. He also called Dervishes as the enemies of the regime and told Mr. Hoveyda: ” If you continue to support Dervishes, you will face with the Revolutionary Court and Ministry of Information.” Momeni frequently, by disobeying the law in different ways such as miscreants in Jail tried to threaten their lives and humiliated and insulted them.
