Iranian human rights activist Nargess Mohammadi has been summoned to Evin Prison Court for questioning. The Iran Human Rights Defenders Centre website reports that Mohammadi must appear in court on Saturday November 8, according to the summons.

Mohammadi is one of the women who met with Catherine Ashton when the former EU foreign policy chief travelled to Iran. The meeting triggered heavy criticism from Iran’s conservative factions, and Mohammadi was questioned about it on several occasions.

Mohammadi, who served as deputy head of the Human Rights Defenders Centre in Iran, was also arrested in 2010 following the mass protests triggered by the controversial 2009 election. The protests led to a crackdown on political activists and the closure of the Human Rights Defenders Centre in Iran.

Mohammadi was also involved in the protests against incidents of acid throwing in Isfahan. Mohammadi and a number of other activists gathered in front of Parliament two weeks ago to call for swift government action to keep women safe from such assaults.
