Molana Abdolhamid Zahedan, a Friday Mass Imam, has written to the new head of Iran’s national broadcaster, Seda va Sima, asking that its programming show “respect” for ethnic and religious minorities and calling for “the airing of Sunni prayer call in Sunni regions of the country.”

Sunni online reports that the senior Sunni cleric wrote: “It is only befitting that Sunni prayer call is aired in Sunni regions of country, and in order to educate the public about different ethnic groups in the country, to produce radio and television programs in their particular languages.”

Mohammad Sarafraz, who was recently appointed the new head of Seda va Sima, has announced his commitment to improving national programming in order to make Seda va Sima a viable alternative for the public, which is increasingly turning to satellite programming.
