Anniversary of the Day of Dervish Holds in London

This year, the commemoration and Memorial Day of Dervish as the previous years, with the presence of a number of lovers of mysticism was held in London in England.
Based on the report of the International Organization to Protect Human Rights in Iran, the first speaker at the conference, which was held to commemorate and cherish the day of Dervish, was Dr. Mostafa Azmayesh the managing director of the International Organization to Protect Human Rights in Iran, thinker and scholar of comparative religious studies, particularly, Islam and Christianity.
In this anniversary, Doctor Azmayesh, by referring to the dignity and respected position of Hazrat Jalaluddin Muhammad Balkhi, known as Mawlana, and also by citing some of poems of Mawlana created a spiritual atmosphere for the participants.
This glorious event (22 Feb,2015) was held in of the sacred places in the city of London with a group of lovers of literature and musicin solo and ensemble.
Morvarid and Eshgh groups played Daf (a kind of circular musical instrument) in the ceremony. And also “Ghavali” (a kind of divine and spiritual poem accompanied with music) was another program of this memorable night.
The third of Esfand, 1387, in response to the demolition of the place of worship of Nematollahi Gonabadi Dervishes in the cities of Qom and Esfahan, and also the destruction of Dervish Naser’Ali tomb which has been registered in UNESCO as cultural heritage; afterward, more than a thousand of Gonabadi dervishes by gathering in front of the parliament demanding justices from their representatives in the Parliament.
This sit-in and silent gathering was responded with silence and indifference of the authorities and also reacted with the batons and sticks of the police and security forces.
On the same day, a number of dervishes, followers and lovers of mysticism were arrested, and some in the final hours of that day, and some of them later were freed after interrogation.
On the occasion of unity, solidarity, and sympathy of dervishes, the 3rd of Esfand (Feb, 22) is known as the International Day of Dervish.
