Turkish experts invited to Tehran conference on Rumi

TEHRAN — Turkish Rumi experts Adnan Karaismailoglu and Erdogan Erol have been invited to the Fourth International Conference on Rumi, which will open in Tehran this Thursday.

Karaismailoglu and Erol will be the special guests of the meeting, which will take place at the Shahid Beheshti University International Conference Center, director of the conference, Saeid Mohammadzad-Akbari, said in a press release on Friday.

Karaismailoglu is the Turkish translator of Persian poet and mystic Molana Jalal ad-Adin Rumi’s magnum opus Masnavi-ye Manavi, and Erol is the former director of the Mevlana Museum in Konya, who held the position for 25 years.

Literati from the Persian-speaking nations and some other countries will also attend the conference, which has been organized to commemorate the Rumi National Day on Thursday.  

A number of Iranian literati and artists who have created works on Rumi will also be honored at the meeting

Based on an agreement between Iran and Turkey, the two countries plan to submit a version of the Masnavi-ye Manavi that is preserved in a Turkish library on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register list.
