Amin Niayifar, high-achieving Iranian student lashed by the Iranian authorities

The above photo of Amin Niayifar was taken yesterday, after he was released from Evin for finishing his 6-month prison sentence.

Eleven days ago, the Iranian authorities had brutally lashed the imprisoned student 30 times then returned him to the general ward in Evin prison. Niayifar’s crime was, “Insulting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad”.
Amin Niayifar is a high-achieving 22-year-old University of Tehran mechanical engineering student and a Green Movement supporter. He was arrested on December 27, 2009, on the day of the Ashura protests. After enduring solitary confinement he was released on bail, but returned to prison in the summer when his sentence was upheld by the Appeals Court.
