Ahead of the next Parliamentary election, a number of political prisoners were summoned to the Magistrate Office in Evin and to section 209 (under the control of the Intelligence Ministry) and were once again interrogated.

Kalameh reports, Alireza Rejaei a member of Religious-National Council, Amir Khosro Dalirsani member of the Combatant Moslem Movement and Mohamad Reza Motamednia, Mousavi’s special representative during his post as a Prime Minister, were summoned to Shahid Moghadasi Magistrate Office in Evin and were questioned and interrogated regarding various statements they had released on boycotting the upcoming elections and protesting the Green leaders’ illegal detention.

These new summons have been at the request of the Intelligence Ministry’s memos to Evin Magistrate’s office requesting that prisoners who have issued statements be confronted and dealt with.

Trumping up of new charges has become the new method of confronting the protesting prisoners who either have already served half of their sentences or are close to the end of their prison term.

Last week, Abolfazl Abedini and Shahin Zainali were summoned to section 209 and were interrogated about the statement they released condemning war on Iran, and supporting the people of Bahrain.

Shahin Zainali was threatened with exile and few days later he was transferred from Evin to Rejaei Shahr prison (with much worse conditions than Evin).

Blogger Housein Ronaghani Maleki, who is in poor health, was also summoned and interrogated about the joint letter to Sayed Mohamad Khatami about imprisoned attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh and his father’s interviews with the press.

Last week members of the National Front, Dr. Ali Rashidi and Hamid Reza Khadem were also summoned to section 209 for questioning.

Journalist Bahman Ahmadi Amoei was also summoned and interrogated last week regarding a statement that has become known as “The 39 prisoner’s statement” asking for the release of Green Movement leaders Mousavi, Karoubi and Rahnavard.

Human rights activists, Soma Nourani, Aref Darvish and Mehdi Khodaei were also summoned and interrogated about a statement they signed supporting Nasrin Sotoudeh and also about a statement requesting Khatami to answer some questions.

Abolfazl Ghadyani a member of the Central Council of Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization was summoned, days before his release at the end of his prison term was scheduled, to face new charges of “propaganda against the regime” by writing a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei. This prevented the release of this elderly and in poor health condition political prisoner.

Also, previously Mohsen Mirdamadi the Chair of Participation Front and Fayzollah Arabsorkhi, member of the Central Council of Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization, were summoned by officials to Evin Ward 2-A (Sepah) and were pressured and interrogated about “The 39 prisoner’s statement”.
