Jailed student activist Arash Sadeghi has begun his own hunger strike in support of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, the jailed blogger who has gone on a hunger strike to protest the refusal of prison authorities to provide him with urgent medical care.
Daneshjoo News report that Sadeghi, a member of MirHosein Mousavi’s campaign and a student activist at Allameh Tabatabai University, has informed his family that he has begun a hunger strike in support of Ronaghi Maleki.
Sadeghi, like Ronaghi Maleki, was arrested during the crackdown on protesters following the controversial re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009. Sadeghi was sentenced to one year in jail plus another four-year suspended sentence. Sadeghi was released last February but then was arrested a month later.
According to his grandfather, who recently visited him in Evin Prison, he is being held in solitary confinement and is interrogated every 20 days.
