Regime Critic Mohammad Nourizad Is Ready To Donate A Kidney To Hossein Ronaghi Maleki

Documentary film maker, author and a former political prisoner, Mohammad Nourizad in a message to Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s father said he is willing to donate one of his kidneys to Hossein.

According to reports by Kalameh, Mohammad Nourizad has sent a message via a friend to Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s father saying, “Tell Hossein I am willing to donate one of my kidneys to him, if his body excepts it, and if his soul does also.”

Due to Hossein’s dire health condition his being on a hunger strike and the authorities failing to pay attention to this serious case, there is a fear that Hossein may lose his one functioning kidney also.

One of Hossein’s kidneys is no longer functioning and his other one is functioning at 70%. After Nourizad’s message to Hossein’s father, a number of Hossein’s cellmates have volunteered to donate a kidney to him.

Hossein Ronaghi Maleki announced launching a hunger strike May 26 in a letter to Khamenei, was transferred to Hasheminejad hospital last Sunday in critical condition.

In his message Nourizad said, “My blood type is O positive. See if my kidney can be used for Hossein, please don’t waist any time and let’s start immediately. There is no reason to make a big deal out of this. Tell the prison officials you bought a kidney from some unidentified person out on the street.

At a time when some of our fellow citizens are willing to sell their kidneys due to poverty, why shouldn’t I, because of my convictions and my love and like for Hossein, not donate mine to this young man.

Hossein is on a hunger strike to protest the unjust interferences in judicial affairs by IRGC’s Intelligence Corps and the Intelligence Ministry.

It is to protest the lack of independence of the Judiciary system, and is a call to restore the Constitution and proper judicial process, and restoring the rights of political prisoners and their families, such as leave entitlement, telephone use, and etc.”

Blogger and human rights activist, Hossein Ronaghi Maleki has been incarcerated for two and a half years without being allowed any furlough. He was arrested on December 13, 2009 in the city of Makan near Tabriz, and was immediately taken to Ward 2-A of Evin prison in Tehran.
