November 19th, 2012 – [Saham News] Opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi was reportedly admitted for a few hours to one of the hospital affiliated with Iran’s security apparatus yesterday. Karroubi’s transfer to a hospital by security forces took place in the wake of rising concerns and warning signs regarding his physical well being.

Concerns for the health of Mehdi Karroubi a pre-revolutionary dissident and current political prisoner of the ruling establishment began two weeks ago when he started experiencing extreme weight loss, a lack of appetite, dizziness and nausea.Following repeated warnings by Karroubi’s family regarding his deteriorating physical heath, security forces finally decided to allow that the opposition leader to be admitted to one of the hospitals under the supervision of the security apparatus.Saham News will continue to publish further details regarding Mehdi Karroubi’s condition. It has also been reported that opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi was also admitted to Tehran’s Heart Center for a few hours today in order to undergo a number of cardiac tests.

Opposition leaders Mehdi Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard have been under house arrest for more than 650 days. Mehdi Karroubi has spent the last 600 days in isolation and under house arrest without his wife at a location other than his personal residence. Karroubi’s wife Fatemeh Karroubi has repeatedly objected against the ruling establishment’s actions. The pressure on Karroubi and Mousavi’s family members has increased to such levels that it has become exceedingly more difficult to provide accurate and transparent information about their latest condition.
