Gonabadi Dervish, Sentenced to 2 Years Imprisonment

 

 

 

 

 

Gonabadi dervish, Ali Moazzami was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment by Tehran Revolutionary Court.

According to Majzooban reporter, Judge Abolqasem Salavati presiding over the Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court, sentenced Ali Moazzami to 2 years in prison on charges of gathering and colluding against national security, according to Article 610 of the Penal Code.

This dervish was arrested along with 15 dervishes’s lawyers and managers of Majzooban Noor website ( Nematollah Gonabadi Order News Site) in Shahrivar last year (September 2011) in Tehran and endured one month of interrogations in solitary confinement in Ward 209 at Evin prison. He was later released on bail.

Among those detained in Majzooban Noor case, Ali Reza Roushan and Nosrat Tabasi, were sentenced to one year imprisonment and four years of probation and to six months imprisonment and four years and six months of probation respectively for like charges.

Mr. Roushan is currently serving his sentence in Section 350 of Evin Prison and also Mr. Tabasi has been summoned to “Shahid Moghaddas Prosecution Office (Evin)” to serve out his jail term.

It is important to say that among those arrested in last Shahrivar (September 2011) seven Gonabadi dervishes ( Messrs. Hamid Reza Moradi Sarvestani, Amir Eslami, Mostafa Daneshjou, Farshid Yadollahi, Afshin Karampour, Omid Behroozi and Reza Entesari ) are currently in solitary confinement at Evin’s ward 209 and yet no fair trail has been held to investigate and consider the charges made against them.
