On the seventy-six day of hunger strike, Saleh Moradi and Kasra Nouri, Gonabadi Dervish hunger strikers in Shiraz’s Adel Abad prison, despite their dire health and with forced therapeutic serum , insist on their demands and they have announced that their unlimited hunger strike will be continued until responsible officials would meet their legal demands.
According to Majzooban Noor, jailed Gonabadi Dervishes, Saleh Moradi and Kasra Nouri after 64 days of hunger strike on liquid diet, have started a dry hunger strike since Thursday first day of Iranian new year, March 21. They have gone on hunger strike to protest the illegal imprisonment of seven Gonabadi dervishes’s lawyers and Majzooban Noor website managers in solitary confinement of Evin prison in the past 76 days and lack of care for their critical health conditions.
After the last visit, their families have reported that their condition has gone a little better than the previous meeting because Dervishes take regularly injections serum under order from the prison officials, but they are still refusing to take liquids and food.
It is remarkable that, yesterday morning 11 Farvardin 1392 (March 31, 2013), Kasra Nouri, on 75th day of his hunger strike, was transferred to Shiraz’s intelligence detention center by security forces and after several hours of interrogation, beatings and being held in solitary confinement in order to break his hunger strike, due to Dervishes’s gathering in front of Shiraz’s intelligence detention center building, was again transferred back to Adel Abad prison. After his return to Adel Abad prison, due to his Severe weakness and lethargy which was as a result of intelligence officials’s wrongful and illegal acts, he was taken to to the infirmary.
It is notabe that, judge Rashidi who is responsible for Nouri’s case in Shiraz’s Revolutionary Court has asked his mother to post bail bond in order to release her son but she rejected judge proposal and stated that: The only acceptable way to release all imprisoned Dervishes in Shiraz and Tehran’s prisons is “unconditional release” and we shall never accept to pay even 1 rial bail for his release. Now his family was suggested to set him free on bail while this Dervish has been behind bars for more than 15 months in Shiraz’s Adel Abad prisonin and has not yet received a definitive sentence since then.
Judge Rashidi also asked his mother not speak to the media about his son’s situation.
It seems that the Ministry of Information, by using various methods such as putting presure on jailed Dervishes and their families, taking action to facilitate these two hunger strikers’s release, tries to shirk its responsibility except to fulfill their demands!
